The Reset Foundation seeks an outstanding educator to build the academic program at Reset’s Bay Area campus. This is an opportunity for a teacher passionate about transforming communities to exercise professional creativity in how they instruct and support students. Under the direction of the Head of Program and as part of Reset’s broader strategy, the Academic Program Manager creates and implements curricula for high-school credit and college-prep, oversees students’ academic progress and advises towards education goals. This role works closely with Reset’s academic partners, including John Muir Charter School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program & Curriculum Development

– Collaboratively develop, teach, and adjust our interdisciplinary project curricula – integrating academic, career, and social-emotional skills; modify lessons based on implementation and feedback
– Review, evaluate, monitor, report and document student attendance, progress towards attainment of high school diplomas and/or college credits, assessment data, and other academic and behavioral data
– Keep abreast of best practices in teaching and learning and recommend appropriate technology, trainings, materials, supplies, and resources
– Liaise with Reset’s academic partners, including John Muir Charter School
– Work closely with the campus team to develop programmatic pathways and partnerships for students to prepare for college and productive careers

Instruction & Coaching

– Coach students through college-level coursework and teach foundational college preparatory classes
– Serve a student advisor and case manager, meeting weekly one on one with advisees, monitoring their progress, coaching them to set and reach goals, participating in weekly student support/case management meetings, and communicating with other appropriate parties in support of their success
– Implement restorative practices; participate in or co-facilitate restorative conferences, circles, and community building activities
– Work hand-in-hand with campus team (including RAs and therapist) to understand and address the whole student, and not merely his academic needs; coordinate with other campus staff to share information, brainstorm solutions, and collaborate on approaches
