Job Description

Cottonwood Institute (CI) is looking to contract an administrative support position to provide assistance and expertise in implementing its programs and events. CI is seeking a motivated and self-driven individual whose goals, passion, and experience align with the mission of CI. This person would be available for our spring and fall busy seasons: completing supporting paperwork for trips, helping with CI events, and other tasks throughout the year on an on-call basis, as assigned.

Overview:
CI is a 501(c)3 educational non-profit that provides environmental education and service-learning programs for schools and youth organizations at the middle and high school levels. CI’s mission is to connect underserved students to the outdoors and empower them to take action to improve their schools, communities, and the environment for future generations. CI runs programs in the greater Metro Denver Area, including Boulder County, and throughout the Front Range.

Description:
CI is looking for an inspired and passionate person to provide an array of administrative support and event coordination on an on-call basis throughout the year. The ideal candidate should be passionate about education and the environment and must be detail-oriented with the ability to deliver timely results. This contract position will require flexibility in location and schedule.

CI starts the year with an instructor training in March and hosts our annual Base Camp Bash fundraiser at the end of April. There are many field-based and school programs throughout the month of May into early June, followed by The Throwdown (a charity cornhole tournament) in August. This starts our fall season of school programs and field-based trips ending in October. We need a capable and motivated independent worker who can assume administrative duties as assigned with current staff members and handle these events.

Deliverables:
Assist Program Director and Program Coordinator in processing paperwork for trips including:
Collecting student paperwork
Database entry
Creating course summary forms for each trip
Instructor invoices
Organizing receipts
Collecting and entering evaluation data from trips

Special event support
Preparing donation letters
Social media and website administration
Helping program coordinator with trip logistics as needed
Maintain clear communication with Executive Director, Program Director and Program Coordinator
Other duties as assigned

Contractor Minimum Requirements, Skills, and Experience:
Proficient in desktop computing
General knowledge of Google, MS Word, Facebook, and Twitter
Experience with Salesforce or similar online databases
Excellent written and verbal skills in English (necessary) and Spanish (preferred)
Video editing and marketing skills are preferred
Passion for learning and the environment!

Location: The CI team works from its downtown Denver co-working space located at 1536 Wynkoop Street, Suite 106, Denver, CO, which would be the main point of contact, as well as from home offices and schools throughout Denver and Boulder County.

Compensation: This is an independently contracted on-call position, which CI estimates to require an average of 20 hours/week. Pay will be based on contractor qualifications ranging from $11 – $13/hour.
