Full-Time Agriculture Program Specialist

Job Description

Overview:

Nuru International is accepting applications for a Program Specialist for its Agriculture Program in Ethiopia. Designed in 2013 and implemented starting in 2014, the Agriculture Program in Ethiopia is entering into a phase of build-out and refinement amidst continued implementation and initial scale-up. The candidate will be managing the Agriculture Program strategy and implementation of the model on the ground.

Desired Start Date: November 1st, 2014

Responsibilities:

-Actively refine and implement the Agriculture Program in Ethiopia to meet the needs of partner communities.
-Recruit, mentor and train Ethiopian staff as partners in the execution of all program activities.
-Create, update and employ planning tools and budgets to meet program goals.
-Closely work with Nuru M&E team in designing and implementing strategy for regular monitoring and impact evaluations.
-Oversee the Management Information Systems (MIS) to systematically keep and manage financial and program data.
-Track progress toward meeting pre-determined goals and exit criteria.
-Implement and manage the approved Agriculture Program strategy in close collaboration with the Agriculture Program Strategic Advisor, Team Leader and local staff.
-Translate Nuru’s development philosophy and methodology to operations on the ground.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in business administration, agriculture, natural resources, international development or related fields.
-Master’s degree strongly preferred.
-At least 2 years of experience in operation or management of agriculture programs or businesses.
-Experience working with and/or developing cooperatives strongly preferred.
-Prior experience living and/or working in a developing country; experience working with the people in poverty is highly preferred.
-Formal data management experience, solid quantitative skills, and advanced level of experience with Excel. Salesforce database management skill a plus.
-Strong commitment to organization’s mission, vision and theory of change.
-Effective crisis management and rapid, innovative problem solving skills in uncertain environments.
