Full-Time Assistant to the Executive Director

Welcoming America brings together a broad network of non-profits and local governments from across the U.S. and strengthens their work with the know-how, tools and incentives they need to transform their communities.

Headquartered 15 minutes outside of Atlanta, we are a “roll up your sleeves” social enterprise with team members who are committed to our mission. In support of our strategic plan, we have an immediate need for an extremely competent Assistant to the Executive Director! The Assistant to the Executive Director (AED) is responsible for supporting the Executive Director in their role of leading the organization.

• The AED will coordinate, draft and execute internal and external communication from the Executive Director.
• This person will be the liaison to the Board of Directors, coordinate organizational meetings, provide administrative and scheduling support, and support or lead projects as directed.
• The AED must have outstanding writing and communication skills, embrace accountability, exhibit discretion, be flexible and possess great people skills.

To be successful, you must have a proven track record of managing and completing multiple complex tasks simultaneously; as well as strong accountability and follow-through with an output-orientation. You must be able to work with many stakeholders, internally and externally, while consistently producing a quality work product. This is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environment so you must be flexible with responsibility and hours, including nights and weekends as needed. It is critical for the ideal candidate to perform effectively in an environment of ambiguity. Qualified candidates who have a background with immigration and/or social justice issues will receive additional consideration.

• All candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role (i.e. experience supporting Executive Director, President/CEO, COO or other similar senior-level executive.
• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Outstanding communication skills are critical, including prose, grammar, presentation and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is strongly desired.
