The Division of Undergraduate Studies at Florida State University is searching for a full-time Social Entrepreneur in Residence to serve as the Coordinator of our new university-wide Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative. This new position will play a leading role in making Florida State University a national leader in supporting the development of students as social entrepreneurs and innovators. The incumbent will be a non-tenure track faculty member and part of a larger university-wide initiative to promote entrepreneurship among our students.

The Coordinator will join a growing and dynamic team in the Office of Undergraduate Research, which is located in the new Honors, Scholars, and Fellows House and part of the larger Division of Undergraduate Studies. The mission of the Office of Undergraduate Research is to help students become accomplished scholars and active citizens—people of character who can drive innovation and enrich our society. To that end, the Office works with faculty, staff, and students from across campus to support the engagement of FSU undergraduates in high-impact curricular and co-curricular experiences such as research and creative projects, social innovation, and international service-learning. Together, the office helps students take advantage of the resources of a major research university, deepen and expand their understanding of the world, and apply their skills to improve the lives of others.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinating the Florida State University Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative by:

• Assisting with the development and implementation of curricular and co-curricular social innovation and social entrepreneurship programming across the university (e.g., internships, externships, student award competitions)
• Working directly with students to provide advice, guidance, and mentorship on social innovation and social entrepreneurship projects and development.
• Increasing the university community’s understanding of social entrepreneurship and creating a culture and ecosystem supportive of social entrepreneurship
• Tracking, monitoring, and evaluating outputs, outcomes, and impact of the Initiative
• Supporting the work of social entrepreneurs-in-residence across the university (FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy is also hiring a full-time Social Entrepreneur in Residence as part of the first phase of the Initiative)
• Coordinating discussions with appropriate stakeholders, including students, university administrators, faculty, social entrepreneurs-in-residence, staff, and community leaders
• Working with and supporting broader initiatives to foster social entrepreneurship and innovation at FSU and in the greater Tallahassee community
• Developing enduring and creative partnerships with entities throughout Tallahassee to further the efforts of the Initiative
• Implementing creative strategies to increase internal and external awareness of the Initiative and program value
• Assisting with fundraising and grant-writing efforts for the Initiative
• Establishing and maintaining dialogue and shared learning between the Initiative at Florida State University with national and regional bodies that promote student social entrepreneurship and innovation
• Successfully navigate the internal and external communities to guide and connect entrepreneurs
