problems that have long been considered intractable. We build, lead, and support
efforts to change the systems that contribute to problems like human trafficking,
mass atrocities, and violent conflict. HU is part of the Omidyar Group, which

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Investments is a principal member of the HU Investment team,
charged with representing the organization in a range of client-facing settings and
advancing investment opportunities that fit Humanity United’s overall strategy. This
particular Director of Investments position will have direct responsibility for managing
a portfolio of work related to driving more ethical labor practices in corporate supply
chains. This work includes implementing and, as necessary, updating the
organization’s overall strategy, identifying and screening specific opportunities to
further the organization’s strategic goals, conducting due diligence and proposal
evaluation, and providing ongoing grants/investments management and support. In
addition, the Director of Investments contributes to shaping ongoing strategy
development.

Qualified candidates will have extensive prior experience working on labor rights
related issues and be knowledgeable about supply chains and ethical supply chain
practices. Candidates should have an understanding of the broader context of the
intersection of business and human rights and the ideal candidate will also have
experience and understanding of the way that market forces and socially responsible
investors can incentivize positive social change.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Develop and implement HU’s strategy for engaging, educating and coordinating socially responsible investors in an effort to push corporations to towards more ethical supply chain practices
• Work with corporations and supply chain focused NGOs to deepen corporate understanding of the issue of forced labor
• Actively seek out potential partners with the aim of successfully implementing the above-mentioned vision
• Conduct thorough due diligence of grants and contracts from early analysis and determination of fit to organizational and financial analysis, monitoring and oversight during the execution phase and proper completion of close out and learning documentation
• Oversee high-touch communication efforts with a wide range of internal and external constituencies in a fast-paced environment requiring rapid prioritization and multitasking
• Advance internal learning objectives through rigorous analysis and outcome evaluation
• Lead and support other projects as required

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10+ years of professional experience working on issues related to human rights, international development, philanthropy and/or policy advocacy with a nonprofit organization, foundation, government entity, private sector, or intergovernmental
organization
• MBA or MA in international affairs or public policy, or equivalent experience
• Experience managing direct reports in a professional environment
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence others, and offer strategic
perspective
• Strong analytical skills; prior experience with investing/grantmaking preferred
• Strong teamwork and written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with limited supervision and high levels of initiative
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
