Full-Time Director of Communications and Marketing

Welcoming America is a national, award-winning nonprofit that helps communities across the country reach their full economic and social potential by becoming welcoming towards all their residents, including immigrants. Welcoming America brings together a broad network of non-profits and local governments from across the U.S. and strengthens their work with the know-how, tools and incentives they need to transform their communities. Headquartered in Decatur, 15 minutes outside of Atlanta, we are a “roll up your sleeves” social enterprise with team members who are committed to our mission.

In support of our strategic plan, we are looking for a talented Director of Communications and Marketing. The Director of Communications and Marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping our rapidly expanding organization and promoting our phenomenal movement. The incumbent will oversee our communications and marketing strategy and execution. You will help the organization achieve its mission to foster more inclusive and prosperous communities, while also reshaping the national narrative on immigration.

In this role, you will perform the following duties:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy
• Direct all communications and marketing functions of the organization, with a focus on expanding public awareness, membership, and media relations
• Serve as brand manager for the organization, ensuring consistent articulation of Welcoming America’s desired position and image both externally and internally
• Coordinate media interest in the organization and respond to media requests
• Enhance the visibility of member initiatives and provide technical guidance around messaging and communications support to members
• Oversee a small but growing communications team
• Monitor and evaluate communications and marketing activities to ensure continued success
• Lead projects as assigned, including but not limited to special events and special marketing initiatives.

We want someone who is creative, resourceful and able to interact with diverse constituencies by connecting to shared values.

• Qualified candidates will have at least five (5) years of progressively responsible and relevant experience working in communications and/or marketing (preferably within the nonprofit sector).
• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; alternatively, equivalent experience of at least four (4) additional years in a marketing/communications capacity is required.
• Strong candidates should have strong written and oral communications skills, as well as demonstrated success in communications and marketing strategy and execution.
• Knowledge of immigration and the immigrant inclusion field is preferred.
