Full-Time Director of Communications

About the Position:
Fundación Capital is looking for a candidate with extensive professional experience in communications, marketing, donor development and/or public relations, with a proven track record designing and implementing outreach campaigns with a high level of creativity. This is a leadership position, and requires prior experience developing, executing and leading comprehensive communications strategies.

General Objectives:
With direction from organizational leadership, the Communications Director will lead a communications department with the primary role of establishing, designing and implemneting activities that increase Fundación Capital’s visibility among target audiences, maintains and improves relations with current donors and government and private sector partners, and facilitates the acquisition of new funding sources.

Activities and Responsibilities
The Consultant will undertake the following activities:
– Adjust and implement Fundación Capital’s communications strategy
– Establish a calendar of communications activities for the organization and for individual projects
– Oversee content creation for distinct channels, including an institutional webpage, monthly newsletter, and social networks
– Measure effectiveness of communications content and adjust accordingly
– Develop and ensure consistent messaging across all organizational communications
– Manage media relations and lead in the creation and distribution of press releases when appropriate
– Coordinate the production of additonal informative and marketing materials, including but not limited to audiovisual products, identifying appropriate service providers for graphic and AV work that can not be done in house.
– Ensure consistent communications across the organization, providing guidance to staff members regarding messaging
– Participate in coordination meetings, working to improve the flow of information between Fundación Capital and its partners.
– Seek out partnerships and opportunities for financing, coordinating with leadership to develop publicity materials that target potential donors
– Assist in the management of Fundación Capital’s corporate identity, and oversee brand architecture
– Define and oversee the implementation of necessary internal communciations tools.

Qualifications:
– Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related.
– At least five years experience leading and managing creative communications strategies.
– Knowledge of strategic messaging and communications tools, current trends in social media, brand positioning, and measurement and control of marketing indicators.
– Excellent Spanish written and verbal skills
– Native or native equivalent English language skills
– Portuguese skills a plus
– Experience working with and managing a team
– Experience working in an international environment; prior experience working in Latin America or the Caribbean a plus.
– Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
– Acceptance and appreciation for a diverse cultural environment, with regard to gender identity, religion, race, nationality and age or other cultural markers.
– Graduate studies a plus
