Full-Time Executive Director

Global Dignity – Posted by gdexecutivedirector New York, New York, United States

Job Description

Global Dignity was founded to raise awareness of ‘dignity’ in our increasingly interconnected world – and to promote the mission that every person can and deserves to lead a dignified life. Eleven years ago, three Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum began an independent collaboration which evolved into Global Dignity, and they remain board members of the organization. There are currently over 60 countries that participate in Global Dignity Day with various countries managing activities including and beyond Global Dignity Day. The 10th Annual Global Dignity Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12th 2016.

Global Dignity’s achievements to date include:
– Over 50 Global Dignity Country Chairs who manage thousands of volunteers and reach thousands more high school students during Global Dignity Day
– In 2015, Global Dignity Day reached more than 485,000 students

Global Dignity has the ambition to further increase the impact and scope of the Dignity Days. By 2020, Global Dignity aspires to:
– Facilitate the Global Dignity program for 1 million people annually
– Establish Country Chairs in 100 countries
– Develop the concept further to reach new target audiences (successful pilots have already taken place in prisons and psychiatric institutions)

In order to continue this ambitious journey, the organization must be professionalized with a sustainable framework and a resourceful, autonomous international team to maximize program effectiveness and coordinate best practices between volunteer hubs.

The next phase is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial non-profit builder to connect bottom-up activities with top-down influence, creating a well-run, dynamic global organization. The Executive Director is responsible for leading Global Dignity into a phase of strategic growth through sustainable revenue generation and management, non-profit compliance, volunteer management, and creative partnership and program development. Keys to success will include expanding operations geographically, supporting the overall system, and developing new avenues of engagement for the program to come to life across countries. Leadership at the Executive Director level is necessary to fulfill and enhance our vision and produce effective results.

Thanks to a generous grant the salary for the Executive Director has been secured for two years. The position will be based out of New York City in a shared working environment at the offices of BBDO New York.
