Center4™: Accelerating Innovation for Social Good
Fall 2014 Internships Available

ABOUT CENTER4: Center4 connects health and human service nonprofits with technology to transform how these services are delivered to help more individuals in need and produce better outcomes. Named after the Fourth Sector, we blend models from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to integrate social good with business methods. Our programming is designed to increase cross-sector collaboration and identify untapped business opportunities. We also use market-based approaches to increase the flow of technology innovation targeted at health and human service delivery challenges and help tech companies get to scale in these nonprofit markets.

The Internship: As a new initiative, Center4 interns work in all aspects of the organization:
– Identifying and researching barriers to technology uptake in the public and nonprofit sectors
– Discovering opportunities to apply technological solutions to the health and human services sector
– Designing, developing, promoting, and managing programs
– Cultivating partnerships between the nonprofit and public sector and technological enterprises
– Developing, building, and managing all digital and social media activities

Requirements:
– Current graduate student (MPA, MPH, MHA, or other related degree)
– Demonstrated interest in the social good, technology or innovation
– Self-starter with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to carry out activities until completion
– Strong critical thinking and writing skills
– Creative, thoughtful perspective to contribute to current and new program development
– Proficient in internet research, and web-based tools and applications

Internship Details:
– A minimum of 3 days per week required
– A minimum 3 month commitment, with opportunity to extend
– Internship is unpaid

Center4 is founded by and housed within FEGS Health and Human Services, one of the largest and most diversified nonprofit health and human service organizations in the country. FEGS helps more than 100,000 New Yorkers annually to succeed in school, obtain employment, navigate crisis, improve their health and mental health, manage disabilities, and live as independently as possible in the community. Center4 is guided by a blue ribbon advisory board including entrepreneurs, technology innovators, investors, and representatives from the nonprofit sector, government, and private philanthropy.
