DESCRIPTION

IATP seeks a part-time temporary Farm to Institution Program Assistant to support and contribute to our Farm to Head Start and Farm to School work and ensure smooth operations of these programs by covering parental leave for our Farm to Institution Project Director this fall.

The Program Assistant will advance the effectiveness of our Farm to Institution work through administrative, communications and programmatic support to the Project Director. Additionally, the Assistant will spend the first two months of their tenure meeting partners, getting oriented to current projects and preparing to maintain work in the fall while covering the Project Director’s three month parental leave.

The successful candidate will have a background working on Farm to Institution projects or other projects related to local food systems supply chains and/or child nutrition programs. The candidate will be highly organized and dependable; will bring significant project management, administrative and writing experience; and will be committed to social change through collaboration with partners.

This is a non-exempt, temporary position for two days per week operating from the beginning of July 2016 through December 2016.

The location for this position is IATP’s main office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with general logistics and administrative tasks, including travel arrangements, conference calls, expense reports, in-house and off-site meeting coordination and support.
General faxing, filing, photocopying and printing.
Administer surveys, contact lists, program files, databases, etc.
Coordinate webinars and manage administration of blogs and other social media, including Facebook and Twitter as needed.
Serve as a point-person for inquiries about IATP’s Farm to Institution work.
Support the program development efforts by participating in research and analytical efforts.
Collaborate on writing, editing and formatting information for public dissemination and serve as point-person for working with Communications staff.
Support timely funder reporting and proposal development and serve as point person for working with Development and Finance staff.
Coordinate with IATP staff, partners, outside stakeholders, contractors and interns as needed to advance Farm to Institution goals.
Support planning and efficient conduct of the Farm to Institution work.
Attend and participate in internal IATP and external Farm to Institution group meetings
Support implementation of current projects and maintain regular operations, technical assistance and communications with partners and project tasks as directed while Farm to Institution Project Director is on parental leave.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred background working on Farm to Institution projects or other projects related to local food systems supply chains and/or child nutrition programs
Demonstrated project management, administrative and writing experience
Highly organized, dependable and self-motivated; able to meet deadlines and maintain timely project execution
Experience working collaboratively and respectfully with diverse partners towards a common goal
Commitment to social change through collaboration with partners
Keen interest in and commitment to learning about sustainable agriculture, just food systems, child nutrition and the intersection of food and health

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position is based upon qualifications and experience. IATP offers a lively, informal and collegial work environment. As a part-time temporary employee, no benefits are offered.
