Organization Profile:

Founded in 1999, BUILD uses entrepreneurship-based, experiential learning to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities and equip them for high school, college and career success. BUILD’s unique program offers students a four-year entrepreneurship experience designed to reinforce the Common Core, develop 21st-century skills and motivate student engagement in school. Starting in 9th grade, BUILD students work with their peers and community mentors to develop business ideas, pitch to funders and launch real businesses. As they journey through high school, BUILD provides students with support in navigating the college application process and the opportunity to explore college and career options, while expanding their businesses or opting into community internships.

BUILD currently serves approximately 2,000 high school students at programs located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, DC, Boston, MA, New York City, and will serve students in Los Angeles in 2017. Over the next 10 years, BUILD will grow its impact to reach tens of thousands of students across the country each year.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Principal Investments, the Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager is responsible for overseeing 5-figure and below Bay Area foundation and corporate funder relationships, craft and implement donor stewardship strategies, lead site visits, and increase the number of Bay Area foundation and corporations for solicitation. Working closely with a Grants Associate and with program teams, this is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in contributing to the organizations growth and ensure that BUILD has a vibrant culture of philanthropy.

Successful candidates will demonstrate key competencies, such as relationship management, strategic thinking, persuasive communication, and initiative, through a combination of previous education and work experience.

Candidate Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required
5 years of experience as a fundraiser specializing in institutional and corporate giving
Excellent written and verbal skills
High degree of comfort balancing long-term strategic efforts with short-term opportunities
Supremely organized, systems-thinker with an unwavering attention to detail
Ability to use Raiser’s Edge database
Ability to organize, prioritize and execute fundraising plan
Position Details:

Location: Redwood City, CA
Frequent travel for funder meeting is required so employees must have their own vehicle for transportation (valid proof of insurance required).
Position Type: Regular Full-Time
