Yunus Social Business is recruiting for the following position, starting as soon as possible.

Yunus Social Business (YSB) is social business accelerator, focusing on incubating and financing social businesses globally. A social business is a new kind of company that combines the strengths of both the social development and the business world. It is created with the sole purpose to solve a social problem – like NGOs – but to do so in a financially sustainable way – like businesses.

YSB was co-founded by Saskia Bruysten, Sophie Eisenmann, and Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder of the microfinance organization Grameen Bank, as well as a variety of social businesses in Bangladesh and worldwide. A social business ourselves, we report directly to Professor Yunus, and we are part of the Grameen network of over 40 social businesses and more than 50,000 employees.

We at YSB are currently a global team of 40 people with experience in entrepreneurship, consulting, venture capital, business incubation, finance and international development. YSB further has a large pool of expert volunteer consultants that contribute to its global and local operations.

Our main office is in Frankfurt, Germany and we have an on-the-ground presence through our local country teams in Albania, Haiti, Brazil, Colombia, Tunisia, India, and Uganda.

Our core business is the incubation and financing of social businesses in the following manner:

• We design and implement incubation and/or accelerator programmes in our local countries to search for, coach and mentor entrepreneurs to create strong, investment-ready social businesses
• We also serve as a financing vehicle for the most promising social businesses in a defined geographic area (country, region or city), using a methodology similar to those used in the venture capital space
• We further provide on-going advice and support post-investment, including a peer-to-peer exchange with other social business entrepreneurs


Main responsibilities of the Global Fundraising & Investor Relations Manager:
YSB is looking for a dynamic new and self-motivated team member with strong fundraising, investor relations and marketing and communication skills to join its small, entrepreneurial team. In doing so, s/he will help raise philanthropic loans and grants to finance YSB’s work on incubating and financing social businesses around the world.

The Global Fundraising and Investor Relations Manager will start immediately. The candidate will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with YSB’s global management team as well as with YSB’s country operations. The role will, over time, have 1-2 direct reports and will be supervising volunteer consultants on an ongoing basis.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Fundraising
• Identifying potential fundraising targets (including high net worth individuals (HNWI), foundations, development agencies, corporates)
• Initiating contact; building and managing relationships;
• Coordination of fundraising and networking events, such as: investor lunches, dinners, and round tables with the YSB management team and/or Professor Yunus, and external conferences and seminars;
• Representation of YSB through participation in conferences and events
• Design and execution of funding proposals, presentations for events and seminars;
• Contract negotiations with donors and investors
• Development and maintenance of donor management tool/ CRM tool
• Liaising with YSB local country teams to identify fundraising needs and supporting fundraising efforts
• Develop social financial innovations that will allow new ways of financing social businesses

• Investor Relations (IR)
• Development of the investor relations strategy for all donor/ investor categories
• Delivery of investor relations strategy including initiating and managing relationships with potential and current investors, producing regular investor reports and communications
• Development and execution of IR tools such as events, newsletters, investor trips to our countries of operation (Haiti, Albania, Colombia, Brazil, Tunisia, Uganda, India) etc.
• Development of re-engagement approach for existing donors or investors
• Work hand-in-hand with the fund management team to coordinate social business deal flow with funding availability
• Other, more project-specific tasks may also be part of this role, depending on needs and availability.

• Marketing & Communications
• Oversight and implementation of YSB’s global branding, marketing, and communication strategy
• Development and execution of fundraising campaigns; development of marketing materials for YSB
• Management and delivery of PR and social media strategy with key publications, including drafting of articles and blogs, management of PR contacts, initiation and building of relationships with key press targets and regular communications to press contacts.

Qualifications of the candidate:
Candidates should have the following qualities, skills and experience:
• At least 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in one or several of the following:
o Fundraising for large NGO/ foundation
o Professional services e.g. management consulting, banking
o Marketing, communications, PR
o Private banking, or family office and have an existing personal network
o Client facing and service roles e.g. key account manager, with contact with HNWI etc.

• A university degree in economics, business administration, marketing, communications, development or related fields

• Entrepreneurial mindset, self-driven and can-do mentality, with an
o Ability to identify and develop new opportunities on own and
o Stay on the ball in the long run

• Excellent relationship builder and sales talent with
o Excellent communication skills, including strong listening and understanding skills
o Ability to easily engage people through an outgoing personality, with a positive, professional appearance
o Sensitivity to customer needs. YSB works with clients from a wide range of industries and backgrounds, in many cases extremely high level individuals including heads of state, corporate CEOs, high net worth individuals; s/he needs to be able to listen and understand customer needs and think outside the box

• Independent work style, with the following:
o Ability to manage projects from start to finish independently without a lot of guidance
o Ability to manage several projects at the same time under time pressure

• Excellent instinct and understanding for marketing and communications; including PowerPoint and presentation skills, writing skills and creativity

• Structured and diligent work style and attention to detail to follow-up on leads and execute on them

• Passion for social business and the projects we incubate and invest in

• A high level of personal integrity and teamwork spirit.

• Fluency in written and oral English; German an advantage;

• International travel required
