The David and Lucile Packard Foundation is actively seeking a temporary Grantmaking Operations Analyst to start in January and work through November 2015.

Grantmaking Operations
In support of the Foundation’s goals and strategies, Grantmaking Operations (GO) works as a key operational link between grantmaking programs and support functions to ensure effective and efficient program operations in order to accomplish the Foundation’s work in the most impactful way. GO strives to do so in two ways: 1) by ensuring compliance with internal policies and with legal and tax rules throughout the grantmaking process, and 2) by improving data capture and reporting in order to enhance programmatic and operational decision-making, enable foundation learning, and provide accurate and compelling reporting of grantmaking results.

Temporary GO Analyst Position
Responsible for activities related to the management of grantmaking systems and financial processes critical to the Foundation’s day-to-day grantmaking.

Systems Management
• Monitor and ensure on-going integrity of new grantmaking system
• Contribute to the development and implementation of future enhancements to new grantmaking system
• Assist in development of materials and conduct trainings and presentations on new grantmaking system
• Serve as a contact for Foundation staff on day-to-day grantmaking systems issues including troubleshooting and issue tracking.
• Contribute to a cross-department grantmaking system workgroup
• Respond to requests for grantmaking data, data analysis, and reporting
• Contribute to developing recommendations to ensure high quality grantmaking data and information management with an eye toward future enhancement
• Undertake special assignments and/or research projects

Grantmaking Financial Management
• Reconcile month-end/year-end financial data between grants management system and Controller’s Office
• Contribute to the grant payment process including documentation, quality assurance, and recommending operational efficiencies and/or appropriate control mechanisms
• Contribute to annual external financial audit, including audit documentation of processes, procedures, and controls related to grantmaking including financial management and related systems
• Maintain grantmaking operations-related financial processes, procedures, and reporting – including training staff
• Work closely and effectively with the Controller’s Office to produce high quality financial data, processes, and systems

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of relevant work experience
• Demonstrated experience with technical aspects of database and document sharing applications
• Excellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
• Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and attention to detail and accuracy
• Familiarity with current technology and technology trends in grantmaking
• Demonstrated experience with data analysis and audit
• Must self-start, set priorities, and anticipate information needed as projects develop
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and requirements
• Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and training, and customer service skills
• Adept at collaborating with others within a team-based environment
• Ability to protect information of a sensitive and confidential nature
• Sense of humor and ability to work under pressure with grace

Physical Requirements
Candidate must have the ability to communicate via voice telephone, read and understand written communication, and generate written communication manually and using a computer. Candidate must also have the ability to sit at a desk for 2-3 hours at a time, lift and move documents and supplies not to exceed 25 lbs., and bend to file and retrieve documents.

Assignment Duration
The position will be payrolled through an external company. It is expected that the temporary assignment will be from January – November 2015. The position is located in Los Altos, CA.
