Full-Time Innovation Community Manager

Full time benefited position.
Location: TechSpring, Springfield downtown (remote not an option). Weekly travel to Boston or other parts of the region.

TechSpring is a vibrant innovation community with companies of all sizes, entrepreneurs, students, non-profits. They interact informally and formally to create change in healthcare through informatics and technology development, deployment and assessment. The TechSpring office is bustling with people and activity, visitors, events & education, all aligned around a common mission: solving key healthcare challenges of today.

The ideal candidate is comfortable with responsibility growth, has the capacity to work with all levels of an organization, and has demonstrated operations experience in a mission-driven, startup-oriented company or program. We are looking for somebody passionate about the startup community, digital healthcare, and building out the broader innovation ecosystem integrating partners from all over the state.

This is a highly visible position representing TechSpring and our community resources in Boston, and representing Boston resources in Western Massachusetts. The position is grant funded and has a formal link to MassChallenge’s new Digital Health Accelerator, Massachusetts eHealth Institute, Valley Venture Mentors, and Governor Baker’s administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive Engagement: Recruit healthcare professionals as mentors and event participants

Event Hosting: Develop event partnerships & co-organize innovation events, trainings, showcases with focus on healthcare participation, organize select events of key importance

Community Services: Healthcare innovation community builder and event organizer – ignite a community of healthcare professionals and technology innovators focused on healthcare innovation

Community Development: Develop relationships building a bridge between Boston Digital Health community, especially eHealth@MassChallenge, and TechSpring Western Massachusetts community, ultimately expanding relationships to other parts of the state

Navigator: put innovators, entrepreneurs, startups in touch with resources available (MassChallenge, VVM, Baystate innovation resources, other mentoring, angel and VC network)

Internship Program: Manage program, pursue funding, solicit projects, recruit interns & mentors

Desired Skills and Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years in healthcare and/or working with a startup or innovative business or program in a management or operations role

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree typical and preferred

Active experience with an entrepreneurial ecosystem

Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication and customer relationship-building skills, across multiple levels of management. Excellent personal presentation and public speaking skills (event hosting)

Goal-oriented, ambitious, self-starter, detail oriented and passionate

Comfortable working in a fast paced deadline driven environment

A professional, hands-on, resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, and to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time, all the while managing the project list

Enjoy working independently in a fluid, dynamic organization with a minimal amount of direction
