Full-Time Investment Manager / Program Manager

ABOUT HUMANITY UNITED:

Humanity United is seeking a full-time Investment Manager (IM) to join the labor migration and human trafficking team as the primary program manager of a large initiative to eliminate labor abuses from Nepal’s brick industry. The position is based at Humanity United’s office in Washington, DC reporting to the Director of Investments in charge of HU’s labor migration and human trafficking work.

The ideal candidate will be driven by a deep commitment to transforming Nepal’s economy and human rights by tackling both the drivers and enablers of exploitation. The current strategy employs a variety of tactics including a market-driven model, grassroots and community-based programs, strategic communications, policy change and technology. Vulnerable communities involved in the brick sector contend with everything from natural disasters to climate change to caste discrimination, gender disparities, and major health crises. To be successful, candidates should have a deep curiosity about these underlying dynamics and ideas for how to tackle them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Investment Manager will be responsible for day to day implementation of HU’s brick strategy, including:

• Identifying key strategies and approaches to achieve HU’s goal of eradicating forced, bonded and child labor in the brick sector
• Managing partner relationships and overseeing implementation of programs addressing forced, bonded and child labor in the brick industry. This includes frequent coordination and communication with HU’s partners to ensure we effectively support funded organizations to achieve their program goals. Identifying and cultivating new partners and approaches
• Managing grant processes and reporting
• Supporting program evaluations and other key research
• Other responsibilities as required

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates will have:
• At least seven years of relevant experience, with at least five years of increasingly complex responsibilities in international program design and program management on labor rights or in South Asia
• Experience managing social enterprises or other market-driven approaches
• Familiarity with complex systems approaches or basic monitoring and evaluation
• Creative problem solving with capability to innovate and employ non-traditional approaches
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently, as part of a team, cross-culturally, and with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
• Demonstrated abilities in public speaking, and conveying complex subjects
• Graduate degree in public health, social work, public policy and management, or related field with a passion for capacity building and program implementation
• Demonstrated analytical and research experience (writing sample may be required from finalists).
