Title: Investments Manager / Program Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Location: San Francisco, CA

ABOUT HUMANITY UNITED:
Humanity United is a foundation dedicated to bringing new approaches to
global problems that have long been considered intractable. We build, lead,
and support efforts to change the systems that contribute to problems like
human trafficking, mass atrocities, and violent conflict. HU is part of the
Omidyar Group, which represents the philanthropic, personal and professional
interests of the Omidyar family.

POSITION SUMMARY:
o Operate as a generalist, with programmatic support to the Investment
team as a whole, as directed by the Managing Director.
o Act as day-to-day lead or support on special projects on the antitrafficking
portfolio, while presenting key decision points to Managing
Director
o Develop frameworks and tools to help refine and execute upon HU
strategy
o Track relevant emerging trends or events in the and counter-trafficking
field, by, for example:
o Sourcing, reading, and synthesizing relevant publications
o Representing HU at appropriate convenings and meetings;
summarize key insights or results
o Exploring new partnerships with people and organizations
relevant to HU’s work
o Investigating uses of data in the field in general and from grantees
in particular to explore how to improve our quantitative
understanding of the challenges HU tackles
o Take on grants management and communication with grantees as
needed or appropriate; for example:
o Facilitating grantee reporting, fielding grantee questions,
performing initial evaluations of proposals and project reporting,
serving as grantee point of contact, follow up with potential
partners after travel
o Identify and fill gaps in Investment team workflow; e.g., tracking
organizational “lessons learned” by synthesizing successes and failures
o Performs reference and targeted research assistance; supporting
knowledge management and facilitating information gathering through
research, strategic synthesis and analysis, and provides
recommendations for specific projects. Results produced will
complement the knowledge and information available to the
organization.
o Stay up to date on relevant international policy developments and apply
current strategic perspective to investment related activities.
o Actively participate in Investment team meetings and discussion
o Additional tasks and support as needed

Qualifications:
• Graduate level education in international development, social science,
public policy, social work, business, law or related fields
• Demonstrated commitment to international development, creating a
positive social impact, experience with human rights based efforts and
organizations a plus
• Demonstrated ability to structure analysis, perform synthesis, and
provide written reports and presentations that meet project objectives
and timelines
• Demonstrated strong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to efficiently
manage multiple simultaneous projects in diverse program areas
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as
a team player
• Excellent verbal and writing skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to sift through large volumes of information quickly and to
summarize effectively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite in Mac based platform
• 1-3 years work experience in social sector and/or private sector
• Professional and responsive demeanor: warm, efficient, knowledgeable,
and tactful with a good sense of humor.
