Job Description

The George Warren Brown School of Social Work (Brown School) at Washington University in St. Louis seeks faculty candidates for the inaugural Michael B. Kaufman Professor of Practice in Social Entrepreneurship. A national leader in the social entrepreneurship and innovation movement is sought, who has a demonstrated command of this emerging field of practice and study. The inaugural professor will have practice knowledge, likely as a founder, and possess a strong vision for the scholarship needed to undergird and build this field. The inaugural professor will teach and lead curriculum, advise students at the masters and doctoral levels, build career and enterprise pipelines, and leverage opportunities for national leadership. The inaugural professor will advance to national prominence the social entrepreneurship efforts of the Brown School and the larger interdisciplinary and collaborative social innovation efforts across Washington University.

The Kaufman Professor will serve as a member of the Brown School faculty and hold a courtesy appointment with the Olin School of Business, building linkages between the schools as well as among interdisciplinary efforts with the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement. The Kaufman professor will join a top-ranked university, catalyzing its thought leadership and curricula in social entrepreneurship.
