Job Title: Pack Shed Crew

Eagle Springs Organic is a 1600 acre USDA certified organic farm and ranch located in Silt, CO that grows a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the year in both field and greenhouse production. Eagle Springs will be growing approximately 130 acres of vegetable production in the field for the 2015 growing season. Eagle Springs utilizes solar energy, integrated pest management, and other techniques such as cover cropping as part of our mission to grow food in a more responsible and sustainable way. It is our mission to provide local, certified organic produce to Colorado communities throughout the state using environmentally conscious growing practices.

Job Description:
Pack Shed Crew members will wash, cull, pack, and help monitor/maintain storage conditions for all vegetables grown on the farm in order to provide the highest quality product possible to our customers. The Pack Shed Crew will sort and pack produce in desired weight and quantity as well as stage packed produce for distribution, occasionally crew members may also be asked to assist with field harvest and post-harvest cleaning/cooling processes. Crew members will also be responsible for following all food safety procedures and sanitation procedures, including daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and upkeep of the Pack Shed facility. Pack Shed Crew members will report directly to the Pack Shed Managers for daily operation tasks.

Expectations/ Qualifications:
– Experience in vegetable farming, produce packing, or food handling is preferred.
– Individual must have some knowledge of produce quality standards.
– Individual must be detail oriented and organized, this position requires a particular attention to quality control.
– Individual must be energetic and able to stand for several hours at a time, working with speed and efficiency.
– Many tasks may require a large amount of repetition, individual must be able to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently.
– Heavy and frequent lifting may be required on a daily basis. Individual must be able to lift 50 pounds.
– Individual must be able to work well in a team with others as well as independently.
– Individual must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Must have excellent time management skills, completing tasks in a timely manner in accordance with daily goals and schedules.
– This work can be very physical and tedious at times; individuals must have a positive attitude! A passion for farming and organic produce is also a plus!

Hours and Compensation:

Seasonal Pack Shed Crew for the summer/fall of 2015 will start work in early June and work through the harvest season ending in late October. Work hours will average between 40-60 hours per week. Pay is hourly starting at $9.00/hour depending on experience. Pay period is bi-weekly. Employees will be given access to surplus produce. This is a seasonal position, however; Eagle Springs Organic is operational year-round and opportunities for year-round employment could be offered to outstanding individuals who show they are a good fit and are dedicated to the Eagle Springs Organic mission.
