PHILANTHROPY ADVISOR
(FULL TIME/EXEMPT)
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the senior philanthropy advisor, this position is responsible for serving as a philanthropy advisor to a portfolio of individual donors, building our capacity to serve as a comprehensive center for philanthropy and contributing to our mission to deliver a world class experience to all donors.
Salary commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as SVCF’s primary representative to a portfolio of donors, building and maintaining meaningful relationships.

Provide strategic philanthropic planning, implementation and evaluation.

Provide grantmaking support, such as research, due diligence and site visits, to support each donor’s goals for giving.

Actively connect donors with expert staff across the foundation (planned giving, grantmaking, investments, etc.) as appropriate to meet the needs of donors and further our mission of serving as a comprehensive center for philanthropy.

Engage donors in the ongoing creation of a strong donor community through events, initiatives, customized donor web portal, and other activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, including donor circles.

Build awareness of community foundation events and fundraise, as appropriate, for its programs.

Contribute to the division’s and SVCF’s operating and strategic goals.

As assigned, speak publicly on behalf of the community foundation, and assist/support arrangements for other staff in doing presentations for the community foundation.

Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree a plus.

Minimum 7+ years experience and demonstrated success in managing complex client relationships and/or institutional grantmaking in a fast-paced organization.

Knowledge of and keen interest in the evolving landscape of philanthropy and the public and nonprofit sectors.

Experience and keen interest in building and engaging people through online communities and crowdfunding.

Demonstrated commitment to service and the transformational potential of giving.

Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and listening skills for multiple and diverse audiences.

Excellent information technology skills

Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and CMS (Content Management Systems) including Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud Net Community a plus.

Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent people and project management skills, with an ability to work with diverse people in multicultural environments.

Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus.

Ability to approach situations and challenges with a sense of humor.

Demonstrated interest in development of professional skills/expertise.
