REGIONAL DIRECTOR (full-time)

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Regional Director will be the key leader for Smarter Good in Southeast Asia, working closely with the CEO/Founder to develop the social enterprise into a leading professional services firm for the global social sector. This role offers the opportunity to work side-by-side with some of the world’s leading and emerging social entrepreneurs and changemakers and requires a confident, strategic world-class professional with an established track record of accomplishment. The ideal candidate will be an inspiring and seasoned leader with significant experience managing the teams, growth and results of an entrepreneurial venture. Smarter Good serves client organizations whose work spans 20 countries. Global experience and a track record of success in a professional services business are highly desirable.

The Regional Director will work with the CEO and Lead Team members to ensure that Smarter Good is delivering high quality client services, setting and meeting strategic, financial and profitability goals, and developing and retaining a motivated, exceptional team. The Regional Director serves as a key colleague and thought partner to the CEO and Lead Team, ensuring seamless, proactive communications and collaboration across global locations. S/he will also be responsible for building Smarter Good’s presence and impact in the social enterprise community.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Double-bottom line Results: The Regional Director is accountable for meeting our social enterprise goals, including revenue, profitability and social impact.
• Service Delivery and Management – The Regional Director drives results, quality and growth of our client services.
• Team Management, Development and Coaching – The Regional Director will have 5 direct reports immediately and oversee the entire staff team as it grows from 15 to 40+.
• External Relations – The Regional Director serves as the primary communicator for our vision of a social sector that optimizes effectiveness and efficiency and produces more impact.

1. Drive our enterprise toward double-bottom line results:
a. Guide managers to ensure strong client retention to meet annual revenue goals.
b. Work with managers to drive team productivity to meet profitability goals.
c. Work with managers to continually increase quality and value to meet social impact goals.

2. Drive the team’s accountability, productivity and execution of client service including:
a. Directly supervise Managers, supporting and holding them accountable for client satisfaction and results.
b. Supervise and support Managers as they devise client fundraising strategies, develop timelines and key milestones and guide the clients toward results.
c. Supervise and support Managers to ensure high quality service delivery, from strategy to content to communication that meets the clients’ goals and forwards the impact of their organizations.
d. Supervise and support Managers to establish clear objectives for team members (based on organizational goals) and hold team members accountable for meeting their objectives.
e. Supervise and support the work of the Operations/HR Manager and her team to devise and Implement internal processes to meet Smarter Good client service and productivity goals.

3. Manage, develop and coach the gifted Smarter Good team to perform at superior levels including:
a. Inspire and motivate the team, bringing energy, a sense of possibility, ambition and enthusiasm to the organizational goals and the workday
b. Cultivate an inspiring culture and find concrete and strategic ways to reinforce it.
c. Coach and mentor Managers to select outstanding new members for their teams and to onboard them seamlessly into Smarter Good’s culture and company.
d. Coach and mentor Managers to provide positive and constructive feedback to the members of their team to develop their skills, improve the quality of our service, and establish Smarter Good as a leading expert in social sector efficiency.
e. Supervise and support Managers to develop and implement a professional development path for individual team members and team as a whole
f. Develop and maintain rapport with team members to prevent unexpected situations (failing to meet deadlines, leaving organization, etc.)

4. Communicate our vision externally, locally and regionally
a. Serve as the lead spokesperson for Smarter Good in the Philippines and Asia
b. Participate in networking events to connect with like-minded nonprofit and for-profit organizations to support ecosystem development.
c. Ensure Smarter Good has a presence in the growing social enterprise field, including working with External Relations coordinators to increase social media presence.
d. Write and work with team to produce articles and thought pieces to help establish Smarter Good as a leader in social enterprise.

5. Other Responsibilities
a. Work with CEO to develop and refine organizational goals and services
b. As needed, participate in business development

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant social sector professional experience, with significant enterprise-building, fundraising and leadership experience. Relevant for-profit experience in consulting or professional services coupled with significant social sector involvement as a volunteer or board member is also desirable.
• Proven fundraiser or experienced salesperson with quantifiable results and ability to inspire and manage/motivate others to achieve fundraising/sales results.
• Previous P&L experience required. Double-bottom line experience a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive people management experience
• Bachelor’s degree from top tier university required. MA desirable
• Global experience working across developed and developing markets is highly desirable
• Exceptional communicator, written and verbal
• Must be candid, direct, strategic communicator and be able to help others to develop similar style of communication
• Embraces problem-solving within ambiguity, highly flexible, and thrives in a small team environment
• Highest level of integrity, professional pride, and maturity
• Sense of humor is essential
