We design human-centred programmes that see the growth of social entrepreneurship in hard to reach places. And are looking for the right people to join us!
We take career changers and career breakers, post-grads and sabbaticalists, corporate learners and freelancers to amazing places, to work alongside grassroots entrepreneurs. In turn we help you get equipped to either launch your own game changing start up, bring more meaning into your work or move into the sector.
Our mission for this programme is to tackle youth unemployment through creative and street level arts and sports – celebrating the diversity and culture of a unique location.
We are recruiting volunteer trainee Social Enterprise Consultants for a unique programme in Rio, Brazil that will affect change a year ahead of the games.
_Quem nós somos.
We are a small group of young professionals who have been making our move away from the corporate sector in the last few years. Since then we’ve been notching up hours in volunteer management, international development, youth media, CSR & social enterprise. Between us we have over 30 years of professional experience, and recently we’ve been running enterprise and social action youth programmes, managing over 200 volunteers along the way.
_Who are you.
Maybe you have left your job already and are thinking of starting out on your own in 2016 – perhaps you’re already self-employed or a freelancer, and it’s time to up the game or consider a change of career?
Maybe you’re a Masters graduate who wants to move into social enterprise? Or maybe you just want the opportunity to share your skills, broaden your mind and make an impact in people’s lives?
Either way, you’ll have that feeling in the pit of your stomach that screams every now and again ‘I need to do something different!’ and you be aching to put your project management, entrepreneurial or people skills into action in a creative, youthful environment.
This programme specifically focuses on the entrepreneurship behind creative and street level arts – but you don’t have to be an artist to join us, we just want people passionate about creativity and social entrepreneurship – and the rest will come!
_Quem é você.
You would come and become an invaluable part of the _SocialStarters team as a Social Enterprise Consultant:
You will be working with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds interested in art and fashion to education and the environment.
Whatever their passion, your role will be to introduce the tools that will empower them to develop their ideas and turn them into sustainable projects and start-ups.
You will go through a one week bootcamp, where we will equip you with a toolkit that introduces you to global & Brazilian social entrepreneurship, creativity & innovation, enterprise and design thinking approaches to problem solving.
Based on a needs assessment you will then design a programme for your clients, supporting them to bring their ideas to life over the following 5 weeks.
In your spare time, you’ll be able to develop you own ideas and explore their validity for your return.
Don’t have any ideas? Fear not – we’ll be supporting you through career coaching and ideation workshops to enable you to feel ready to tackle your ‘what next’.
_a Oportunidade.
You will gain hands on experience of working with a start-up social enterprise (that’s us!) contributing to our own start-up journey and helping us be able to show more people globally how to climb their own way out of poverty.
The tools you learn will be transferable to your own professional development and you’ll be able to utilise the skills and knowledge of the international group.
You’ll get to work on some really cool stuff with inspiring young creatives – this will truly be an experience you never forget!
* Please note that we are seeking participants who have a basic level of speaking Portuguese.

Compensation details
We request for this programme an all-in-one Programme Fee that includes comfortable accommodation, all travel and programme related expenses, training and support: see website for details at www.socialstarters.org
This is a learning & development programme for career changers, and people who want to do more meaningful work. On this programme, you will be based in Brazil for 6 weeks. Flights & visas will be extra.
_Interview Process
We are interviewing candidates in July for the October programme. Due to the popularity of this programme, we will only be getting back to candidates who display the right qualities and experience for the role. Please ensure you are able to financially support yourself through this programme (see website for details of the all-encompassing programme fee), and that you’re ready and able to take 6 weeks out of your life before you apply.
