Temporary Survey Manager, Knowledge and Communications

Job Description

The Knowledge & Communications (K&C) team is fast-moving and manages NFF’s written thought leadership, publications, marketing materials, websites, outreach, social media, press activities, evaluation, and more. The Survey Manager is a temporary full-time position that is anticipated to last for one (1) year.

The K&C team originated the NFF’s State of the Nonprofit Sector Survey in 2009. This survey was designed to gather responses from thousands of nonprofit leaders nationwide on the financial and operational challenges and opportunities they face each year in delivering on their mission work. The results of the survey are shared and used widely, by funders, press, sector advocates, and other nonprofits.

The Survey Manager will manage a complex and central project for NFF, contributing to the diverse breadth of activities of this vital community data-gathering effort. S/he will be responsible for every aspect of survey management, including content creation, survey deployment, public dissemination, data cleaning and analysis, creation and promotion of survey results materials, delivery of survey presentations, and more.

S/he will report to the Director of K&C and work collaboratively with the entire K&C team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Content creation: Help K&C to finalize survey content, seeking and synthesizing feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
Survey deployment and public dissemination: Test survey data thoroughly; revise and/or create new survey dissemination templates (email, social media, etc.); conduct timely and organized outreach to internal and external partners about survey dissemination.
Data clean-up and analysis: Maintain and facilitate data clean-up and testing; contribute to data analysis; synthesize team’s findings to create themes/messages for survey results materials.
Creation and promotion of survey results materials: Oversee, create and review all survey national results materials.
Creation of the publicly available online Survey Analyzer: Serve as primary liaison for the K&C team across the organization.
Delivery of survey presentations: Develop content for, manage and deliver survey-related webinars.
Survey funder relationship management: Work with K&C team to maintain relationships with various survey funders.
Customize survey work: Conduct research and customized survey slices, examining particular geographies or sectors.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements for Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a in related field.
Minimum of four (4) or more years of experience required.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Ability to organize and conceptualize content with ease.
Experience with project management, data analysis and data translation.
Keen attention to detail.
Advanced working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage projects independently, while also working and communicating effectively in collaborative team environment.
Ability to think through processes, summarize results, and suggest next steps.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor, and the ability to interact successfully with a wide range of individuals.
Excellent time management, multi-tasking and organization skills with an ability to deliver on deadline-driven projects.

Specialized Knowledge/Beneficial Skills and Experience:

A Master’s degree a plus.
Experience working with nonprofits/social sector preferred.
Experience with marketing campaigns, relationship management and survey work preferred.
Familiarity and comfort with Constant Contact, Google Analytics and Fluid Surveys or other survey software a plus.
Experience conducting presentations is a plus.
