Job Description

The temporary Compliance Data Assistant will join a small team that provides legal and compliance support to the Foundation. This is an opportunity to learn more about two specific compliance systems and to use your excellent judgment skills in analyzing complex information. In this role you will support the Compliance and IT teams onboard a new system for Foundation-wide use, learn about some of the legal rules guiding private foundation grantmaking, and work with a variety of program staff in completing the onboarding tasks.

The Foundation works on the issues their founders cared about most, which are improving the lives of children; enabling the creative pursuit of science; advancing reproductive health; conserving and restoring the earth’s natural systems; and supporting and strengthening an array of local nonprofit organizations
A staff of 120 conducts the day-to-day operations of the Foundation and a Board of Trustees oversees the work of the Foundation. David and Lucile Packard passed onto the Foundation the following core set of values: integrity, respect for all people, belief in individual leadership, commitment to effectiveness, and the capacity to think big.

Job Responsibilities
• Assist in implement a new compliance system, which interacts with the existing grants database
• Support the day-to-day functionality of the system once the system is onboarded
• Document the new process steps associated with system use
• Train Compliance staff on the new process
• Organize, maintain, and update accurate files
• Provide timely, helpful, and efficient support
• Provide assistance for special related projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent grasp of technology and computer skills. Database experience is desired
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Capacity to analyze complex data and make recommendations to the team
• Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate information needed as situations and projects develop
• Demonstrated skills in working well and flexibly as a team member
• Demonstrated judgment to flag issues and escalate to manager as needed
• Ability to work overtime, if needed

Physical Demands
Candidate must have the ability to communicate via voice telephone, read and understand written communication, and generate written communication manually and using a computer. Candidate must also have the ability to sit at a desk for 2-3 hours at a time, lift and move documents, and supplies not to exceed 25 lbs., and bend to file and retrieve documents.

Education and Experience
AA or equivalent education and related work experience; and a minimum of a year of data entry or related work experience

Duration and Salary
Position is temporary, full-time, and nonexempt. The role will be payrolled through an outside company. Hourly rate will be commensurate with related work experience. The position is located in downtown Los Altos, CA.

It is expected that the assignment will be from July 25-September 30, 2016.
