Community Outreach Associate

Compensation: Base stipend plus commission-based incentives

Term: Short-term contract, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff

Time commitment: Full-time

Position Overview: While solar has the potential to power households across the United States, approximately four out of five American households are effectively locked out of the market for it. With that in mind, the mission of Solstice Initiative is to radically expand access to clean energy in the United States. Solstice accomplishes this by being the first provider of community-based solar energy to the millions of Americans who cannot currently access it.

In anticipation of rapid organizational growth in the months ahead, we are looking for highly-motivated individuals to expand our organization’s community outreach capabilities. The position is a results-oriented role with significant opportunity for professional growth and autonomy.

Responsibilities will include:

• Designing and executing a data-driven sales strategy directed at helping Massachusetts households adopt solar energy

• Conducting outreach to and building relationships with community organizations, including houses of worship, workplaces, community centers, schools, and service organizations

• Interfacing with community leaders and stakeholders to help their networks switch to solar

• Conducting outreach to build awareness among Massachusetts households interested in renewable energy

• Interfacing with Solstice management team to align work product with company goals

• Supporting monitoring of progress to sales goals

This position will report to the CEO.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Previous professional experience in community organizing and/or outbound sales. Previous sales or political campaign experience preferred, as is a comfort with public engagement.

• Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to households and communities with passion and energy

• Knowledge of/relationships with community organizations in the state of Massachusetts

• Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends

• Access to a car

• Extraordinary attention to detail, highly-motivated, creative, proactive, team-oriented, self-starting and eager to work outside of an office setting.
