LAUNCH A PROJECT TO CONNECT REFUGEES & LOCALS

SPEAK is a Portuguese impact venture that connects migrants and refugees with locals living in the same city through community-led online and offline language groups and cultural exchange events.

WHO ARE THEY LOOKING FOR?

They are looking for entrepreneurs to open SPEAK franchises in 100 cities of Europe!

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a SPEAK Founder you will replicate the SPEAK model in your city to promote the social integration of migrants and refugees by connecting them with locals. 

Your job will, quite simply, revolve around making your city an inclusive space where diversity is cherished and anyone can feel at home. Essentially you will implement SPEAK’s project and methodology in your city, with the support of SPEAK’s Central Team. 

. You start off with an onboarding to get you up to speed on all things SPEAK. 

. Then you are required to organise a language and culture exchange event in your city to build up your skills and practice getting people involved.  (You’ll be needing this to get the project to have real impact as well as to assemble a team to help you manage the project.)

This opportunity includes all tasks related to developing a business, from marketing to sales and finances. 

On your day to day, you will be: 

  • Managing Language Groups,
  • Managing cultural exchange events, 
  • Managing partnerships,
  • Pitching the project to get funding,
  • Building and growing the community through Marketing,
  • Managing your team

Your profile

First and foremost, they are looking for someone who is passionate about diversity and committed to the social integration of migrants.

If that sounds like you, you are already on track! Other than this, there are few requirements you should meet:

  • You are able to communicate in English;
  • You are available to devote at least 20-hours per week to SPEAK;
  • You are willing to attend the Bi-Annual Strategy Review, once every 6 months, and Mentor One-on-One meetings, at least once per month 60 minutes.

THE REPLICATION MODEL

Contract type: Social Franchise 

SPEAK’s replication model is a social franchise: you develop your activity as an entrepreneur and you benefit from their support. They share with you their brand, tools and knowledge, as well as they provide support to the SPEAK founders in exchange for a starting fee and a small royalty on revenues.
