The Turner Family Center for Social Ventures (TFC) offers specific classes, workshops and projects designed to promote the alleviation of poverty through a business lens.This is an initiative at the OGSM that brings students together from across campus to work on a multitude of projects with our communities to drive social change.

Directed by a graduate student-led programming board, the center provides resources and opportunities to leverage and combine the individual strengths of Vanderbilt University graduate students, faculty, and business partners.

Reporting to the Center’s Director, The Manager of Operations and Communications will support the TFC in its efforts to engage and educate students on social ventures. The Manager will often be the first point of contact for the TFC through in-person greetings, phone, email, and other means. They will actively work with the center’s Director and the Programming Board to carry out daily operations, project management, and program evaluation. The Manager will work with students, faculty, staff, and administrators across the Vanderbilt community.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

Utilize project management skills to manage and juggle multiple projects at a time.
Provide support for Programming Board initiatives, including events and travel.
Responsible for the TFC’s social media presence and managing the center’s website.
Manage daily office tasks in collaboration with graduate assistants
Assist in the creation and maintenance of a program evaluation system and database
Provide support for students in discussing career aspirations and various opportunities to engage with the TFC
Excellent writing, communication, and marketing skills.
Develop grant proposals to build and sustain funding of center initiatives
Work with the Director to steward existing donors and develop new donors

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experiences:

Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred
Extremely well organized with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible, collaborative and able to interact fluidly with the many different individuals and organizations that will contact and work with the TFC
Positive, energetic and have a motivated entrepreneurial attitude
Student-oriented; experience working in a higher education or academic setting preferred
Proficient in Windows and Mac OSX, Windows Office, WordPress, and mail campaign tools
Requires knowledge and experience with social innovation/entrepreneurship organizations
Basic Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience or the equivalent.
