Why Work Here?

“Do you love inspiring kids to play and spending time outdoors? Then leading Tinkergarten classes could be the perfect gig for you!”

If you care deeply about early childhood, getting kids outdoors, and making a real difference, read on! Tinkergarten is the national leader in outdoor, play-based learning. We are looking for exceptional individuals to lead wildly fun classes for children ages 2 to 8 (and their caregivers) in New York City’s local parks and green-spaces. In Tinkergarten classes, kids develop essential life and learning skills, and grown-ups learn how to support that playful learning at home.

Benefits of being a Tinkergarten class Leader:

  • In-depth training and support: All Tinkergarten Leaders receive immersive online training in play-based learning, child development, and community outreach with ongoing support from our experts.
  • Flexibility: Set your own schedule, outdoor location, and frequency of classes to fit you and your community’s needs.
  • Bring your kids to work! Tinkergarten Leaders who are also parents can bring their own kid(s) to class, so you can support your own children’s learning while helping others do the same.
  • Purpose and Joy: More than anything, know you are doing work that matters, and enjoy the benefits of bringing joy to families in your community.

What the role IS:

  • Work With Purpose: You want to augment your current work/home schedule with fun, flexible, and meaningful work.
  • Teacher: You will administer Tinkergarten’s expert-designed curriculum to young children, using your imagination and enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of explorers.
  • Marketer: You will do outreach in your local community to fill your classes, earning based on the number of classes you lead and the amount of families you serve in your classes.
  • Mentor: Your families will sign up for your classes, season-after-season, as long as you offer them.

What this role IS NOT:

  • A part-time desk job.
  • A temporary assignment.

Who we are looking for:

  • You are energetic, motivated and love working with children and their grown-ups.
  • You are able to commit to offering 2 or more classes each season (1 class = 9 weekly 60-min sessions)
  • You have experience in early education and/or working with children in groups.
  • You have a passion for the outdoors, and are eager to spark that passion in others.
  • You are a team player who consistently follows through and communicates with families and your teammates.
  • You feel the power of nature and play in your bones and can really get behind our mission and core values.
  • You value all people for who they are and are eager to provide an environment in which all learners can thrive.
