Job Description

SUMMARY

The Project Manager will be working with the Supply Chain Innovation team for a project funded by UNICEF-Turkey. This role is responsible for supporting all activities of the project titled Combatting Child Labour in Turkish Garment Supply Chains. The Project Manager will oversee the administrative and technical implementation of this 30-month project in the garment and textiles sector in Turkey, liaising with the UNICEF local office in Turkey. The Project Manager will report to the Program Director based in Istanbul, Turkey with a dotted line to the Senior Director for Supply Chain Innovation, based in Geneva.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of all project activities, to include:
    • Preparing detailed Terms of Reference and scope of work for the outsourced services required.
    • Managing and supervising assessors, including recruitment, work planning, and deliverables.
    • Updating and implementing the monitoring and evaluation plan.
    • Preparing briefs, updates and reports, best practices, success stories, and lessons learned for the project.
    • Supporting coordination of partner and stakeholder meetings.
  • Manage administrative and finance-related functions. Plan and forecast grant expenditure and project activities to ensure compliance with the project contract and budget and to prevent overspending or underspending. Provide timely and accurate financial data to the FLA Finance team for planning, reporting, and auditing. Manage the periodic UNICEF check/audits and mid- and end-term evaluation. Provide documents to UNICEF as requested.
  • Manage technical aspects of the project. Supply-chain mapping with three Dutch companies, tier one suppliers, and upstream suppliers. Contribute to the development of tools and adaptation of existing tools and training materials. Manage facility-level assessments, field observations, and desktop verification of CRBP practices by reviewing and analyzing project partner suppliers’ documentation, assessment reports, and other research. Facilitate supply chain mapping. Contribute to development and management of individual suppliers’ action plans.
  • Serve as FLA representative at conferences, meetings, and other events. Support external communications. Provide translation support, where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-4 years of experience with project management, research, and monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the field of child rights and business principles, social compliance, human rights, and garments and textiles sector.
  • University education and/or training in a relevant field such as business management, international development political and social science, sociology, social work, or human rights.
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite; experience with macOS preferred.
  • Strong writing skills, including authoring reports.
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze large amounts of information and data comfortably and accurately
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the FLA and UNICEF.
  • High-level communication skills, both oral and written; proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Strong organizational skills program management skills; time management skills; and keen attention to detail.

Work Conditions:

  • Local travel within Turkey up to 50% is required for this position, keeping in mind all COVID-19 related travel requirements and limitations.
